"Unconditional Surrender", the popular statue molded after the famous Alfred Eisenstaedt photograph of a sailor kissing a passing nurse during a V-J Day celebration in Times Square is back in San Diego. This time, it is installed permanently and crafted of bronze. The celebration included a mass renewal of wedding vows of WWII era brides and grooms.

ifornia State Parks and the San Pasqual Battlefield Volunteer Association presented a re-enactment day at the San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park Sunday, complete with riders in period outfits demonstrating the battle that took place on the same site on December 6, 1846. Color Me Rad 2012

Color Me Rad, a 5K race punctuated by the use of color "bombs" was held downtown Saturday in and around Petco Park. Before the race, runners wore white. As they entered the end of the race in the parking lots behind Petco, they were pelted with colored corn starch all of which comes out, eventually, in the wash. Proceeds from the race benefit Deaf Community Services of San Diego.

It is the 4th largest parade of its kind in the United States attracting nearly 200,000 cheering spectators. This year, in historic fashion, the Department of Defense allowed LGBT service members to march in uniform.
